Brand new for 2023, nestled along a historic street lined with 19th century stone fronted cottages, is Bwthyn Llechi. Aptly named with the English translation “Slate Cottage”, this mid terrace home is situated in the centre of the UNESCO world heritage slate mining town, Blaenau Ffestiniog. Known historically as the “slate capital of the world”, Blaenau Ffestiniog is in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, surrounded by rugged mountains, lakes and hiking and biking trails.

The cottage has recently been restored to showcase all the unique and beautiful features of a traditional Welsh Cottage. Once inside, you’ll be greeted by the open plan lounge and dining area. The original slate fireplace provides a magnificent focal point for the room, around which you can cosy up and enjoy the peace and quiet. Here you can curl up on the sofa with the fire on, pull out the smart TV, and plan your next adventure. Whether it’s Zip World, walking/cycling in the Snowdonia National Park, exploring the many castles and seaside towns nearby, or catching the old steam train to the harbour town of Porthmadog, taking you on a stunning journey through Snowdonia, there’s something for everyone!

The cottage provides all the amenities and luxury you require. The kitchen comes fully equipped with all the modern comforts including Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, washing machine, oven, fridge, freezer, and ceramic farmhouse sink. Beyond that, the ground floor bathroom includes a shower over a p-shaped bath, WC and basin.

When the evening draws to a close, climb upstairs to discover two beautifully presented double bedrooms, featuring an exposed stone wall, comfortable beds and luxurious linens, as well as a third bunk bedroom, which can sleep both adults and children. In the morning, savour a steaming cup of coffee in the enclosed courtyard to catch the first glimpse of sunshine. So, grab your coat from the custom designed Snowdonia coat rack, tie up your laces, and look forward to your next adventure!

Please note, parking on the road itself can be tricky, however there is a lit, free car park less than 3 minutes’ walk away. The cottage has steep stairs with an extra step onto the landing and internal step down to the kitchen. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome at Bwthyn Llechi.
